Dressy outerwear? Is it even a thing? When we hear outerwear something utilitarian, practical and warm comes to mind – it can be relatively structured, minimalistic, bright, quirky, classic cut, you name it, but dressy and festive is rarely the case.

There are times when the way your outerwear looks matters, like if you go to an event that is held outdoors during cooler months and your arrival appearance needs to make a statement and is as crucial as what is happening under the coat. Or think about charity event, gala, theatre soiree, concert or even attending a FW fashion show during fashion week – the outer layer definitely needs to shine.
In this case a great faux fur (because real fur is a no-go for me) coat can be really helpful keeping you warm and chic without sacrificing the fancy look and allowing you to dress your look up even further.
Paired with fun headwear (hello Carrie Bradshaw and her sequin beret!), fabulous scarf or cinched with a statement embellished belt, accessories can make the look playful. Styled with a necklace over top of the coat – why to be ordinary and hide your fab piece of jewelry under – or details from shoes or even socks or stockings (who am I kidding, not everyone is lucky to flaunt around in socks on a February night: I love you LA weather) you have a very bubbly and festive outer look that can take you places and serve as a going out option on its own if you wish.
